Code of Ethics

Do unto others what you would have them do unto you.

1. General Principles

1.1. We have been established from essential human needs (desire for success, fulfillment in life) and values (rightness, truth, love, humility, mercy, forgiveness, tolerance, freedom, responsibility, righteousness…).

We respect these values in our common life. We acknowledge that it requires our personal effort.

1.2. Today’s global society is very much linked together and mutually dependent; in that, problems in one part of the world affect people in other parts of the world.

We accept responsibility for our behaviour and act from a global point of view.

2. Rightness

2.1. We play fair.

We believe that such behaviour is right and profitable from a long-term perspective.

2.2. We respect all valid laws in the countries where we work.

2.3. As an organization, we do not engage in any activities that could be deemed as corrupt, and we are not affiliated with corrupt practices.

3. Economics and finance

3.1. We feel that it is our responsibility, as part of the minority of privileged and wealthy citizens in this worldwide society, to share our riches with those in this world who have limited possibilities due to economic and social reasons.

3.2. We aspire to integrate business activities and solidarity with people who need help and support.

3.3. We behave responsibly to those who receive our assistance and to those who contribute their resources.

3.4. We commit to using all financial and material resources only for the achievement of the stated goals and mission of the organization and to administer those resources with maximum efficiency.

3.5. We have decided to decline all financial or other means of support from people or corporations that act in conflict with moral values, that disregard established laws, or are engaged in activities which conflict with the goals and mission of ShineBean.

4. Intelligence

4.1 Contemporary society is ruled by a high degree of intelligence and is directly dependent on its remarkable byproducts. Intelligence can be used, as well as any other gift, in positive or negative ways.

We are searching for methods to develop the use of intelligence and mental capacity in positive ways.

4.2 Many people have excellent ideas and new inventions.

We want to give them a means to use their ideas for good and beneficial purposes.

5. Freedom and respect

5.1. Every human being aspires to the fulfillment of his/her needs, for success and satisfaction.

We respect the right of every human being to strive for a happy life by ethical means.

5.2. We wish for other people the same welfare as that which we aspire for ourselves.

5.3. We fully respect the freedom of other people. We fully respect the equality of all human beings and the right for religious and political freedom of each of our co-workers.

5.4. We accept the cultural and ethnical diversities between our society and the societies in which we work. We also bear in mind the diversity of individuals, families, social groupings and communities.

5.5. The benefit of one person or group must not be based on the harm of another person or group.

We refuse to participate in any form of manipulation, aggression or violence.

5.6. We support cooperation and the use of differing opinions, which contribute to the success and achievement of positive goals.

5.7. We request personal initiative, activity and responsibility from all of our co-workers.

5.8. ShineBean is a non-political organization. We are an open group.

Everyone has the opportunity to cooperate with and join us in our activities, if they should choose to do so and are able.

6. Sharing

6.1 We are convinced that helping and serving people in need is the most effective way in which we can achieve our own happiness. Sharing is more useful than receiving.

6.2 We believe that the sharing of tangible, intellectual or spiritual property does not reduce the “wealth” of the donor. We have found that, on the contrary, supporting people in need makes life richer.

6.3 Sharing means that we all give to one another. The donor and the recipient give and receive together. This process can take place on a tangible, intellectual or spiritual level.

6.4 We do not want selfish attitudes that lead to the gathering of goods and to exploitation. We do not take advantage of other people for our own profit. We make an effort to be profitable for the benefit of others.

6.5 The measure of need and the personal activity of the recipient are the primary standards for distribution of aid.

We distribute our resources equitably and in conformity with the needs of the recipients.

6.6 The distribution of support is not dependent on the agreement of the recipients to any religious or political declaration.

We maintain fairness and equal access.

7. Employee relations

7.1 Fairness, sincerity, open communication and mutual trust form the basis of our employee relations.

In accordance, we act fairly, sincerely and credibly.

7.2 The work environment is in conformity with the goals and mission of ShineBean.

We make use of all our possibilities and resources competently and effectively for the achievement of the goals of the organization.

7.3 We maintain all our resources competently and effectively. We do not allow the abuse of any of our resources.

7.4 Good communication encourages a creative atmosphere, which promotes a high level of effectiveness and success.

We are open to the opinions of others. We are willing to search for optimal solutions together and solve conflicts that arise.
